Also called TDS testers, these devices measure the amount of total dissolved solids (TDS) in your water.

TDS is usually used as a tool to determine the general condition of the pool water in terms of how many dissolved particles are present.

What TDS level is OK for Pools?

Ideally, your TDS level should be under 2000 ppm. When it gets higher than this it can decrease the effectiveness of chlorine while also causing skin and eye irritation to swimmers and metal corrosion of your pool equipment. Cloudy water and scaly deposits occur more easily.

What happens if TDS is too high in pool?

High TDS may be a problem if you are having repeated issues with maintaining chlorine levels and clear water – even though the water is balanced and over-filtered. High TDS levels can also cause low-grade corrosion to metal pipes, ladders and lights in a pool, due to an adjuvant increase in the pool water conductivity.
How do I get rid of total dissolved solids in my pool?
There is no miracle product that will remove TDS from your pool water. The easiest way to lower your pool's TDS level is to drain and refill it with fresh water, either partially or completely, depending on how high the level has become.
